sacto has been mostly rainy the past week so i haven't had much of a chance to explore lately. d got back from portland late last night & as soon as she wakes up, we're getting breakfast @ mel's diner...which seems to be a west coast chain-type diner. it doesn't have the best reviews, but it's only 2 blocks away, so we'll see. besides, it's hard to eff up breakfast. mmm. i'm hungry. wake up soon, dena, wake up soon...

also, for those of you paying attention, you may have picked up on the fact that i have recently embarked on a cross-country move...that's over now (though i'm still awaiting delivery of the rest of my stuff). what this means is that i'll now get back to reading sawbuck submissions! oh, & if anybody has any job leads in the sacramento area, i'd love to hear about them!

i've finally finished my move (rocking in edgewater now) & finally gotten on the interweb in the apartment, so now i should be back to a more regular presence here...& also finally back to reading submissions for the summer sawbuck, so if you're waiting for a reply it should be coming soon, probably this weekend, but don't hold me to that...
in other poetry news, just finished up reading That Tiny Insane Voluptuousness by Elisa Gabbert & Kathleen Rooney. Which you should be able to buy at Otoliths before too long. anyhow, it's really awesome, a perfect mix of spry humor, mind-curdling verbal gymnastics, & dead-on seriousishness.

someone at tier3 has thoughts about poets rather than poems.
the premise -- that journals should publish more poems by fewer poets -- is one that i agree with. i like to publish longer selections in sawbuck (i ask for 6+ poems on the submission page), but it can be difficult, since many fine poets seem to resist sending out long submissions. the result, of course, is that i have published single poems by an author, but only when i felt that the poem really amplified the other work in that issue.
